What is somatic Yoga about?

Somatic yoga is a gentle, mindful style of yoga that focuses on developing a deep awareness of the body and its sensations.
It's influenced by somatics, a movement therapy that uses small, slow movements to re-educate the brain to move muscles more consciously. 

Here are some characteristics of somatic yoga:

  • Body-mind integration

    Somatic yoga integrates the mind, body, and spirit through movement and awareness.

    Somatic yoga can help you develop a more self-compassionate relationship with yourself and your body.

As we are opening our compassionate heart , we can feel that there is a lot of intensity in the modern world.
This intensity is affecting us on the nervous system level, maybe like never before. We are collectively also awakening to our emotional needs and there is a lot of emotional healing and clearing happening right now.
We are becoming aware of traumas, and how they are stored in our system, on all levels, and we are collectively looking for new ways to attend these very transformational challenges and developments and we are together birthing new ways to be a human while we choose to consciously embody our spirit. 
This entire collective process is asking for new ways to move, to talk, to express, and to love..

This new module is a development of the many years of teaching yoga, breath work, healing sessions, and having studied and practiced deep integration work of traumas, and tensions and patters.

Kata has been working on herself for 30 years now, and have had the most amazing teachers and masters, and her inner guidance always there to support the next step.
Her greatest teacher has been the Master of the compassionate Breath, Dr Norma Delaney, Aandrah.
Norma has laid the foundation for sacred safe space and emotional and spiritual development, integration work, and understanding Love, Mind, Spirit and body connections. All this infused with the compassionate breath and led by awareness.
Kata also followed the work of Peter Levine, and did explore herself how movement and fascia work can also add to this holistic approach.
 
Throughout many years of Yogic studies, Kata often felt that there was something that limited her by the rigid, strict sometimes aggressive controlling approach of classical yoga. It felt at times forceful and counterproductive, not once she witnessed abusive, potentially traumatising situations in yoga classes where masters were teaching in their old traditional way.

This module dissolves any rigid structure that doesn't serve us to be able to feel, think, be more free and whole.

The Somatic Yin&Yang training

The Program

Program:

Learning fundamentals of somatics, nervous system, safe space, trauma and trauma sensitive space, awareness about patterns, movement and nervous system connection. Opening our senses to body mind and breath awareness. 
Tantric approach: welcoming all feelings, but ability to stay centered, and connected to the source through breath. Breath of integration. 
 

  • Yin yoga with somatic approach- inclusive more modifications, freedom to move, adapt, sense feel, gentle somatic exploration moves, non dogmatic approach. 

  • Learning about traumas, blockages, and breath and movement connection. 

  • Learning 5 somatic yin sequence for each element one.

  • Learning 3 somatic gentle flow ( yang)  and organic , instinctual adaptation of sunsalutations. These can be included in a somatic yin-yang movement class.

  • Sequencing

  • The art of Teaching with trauma informed awareness, 

  • Honouring the feminine body.. a sequuence for somatic release of feminine organs. 

  • Learning to teach the somatic opening meditation  

  • The use of Sacred Breath for sacred safe space. 

  • tools to use if emotions arise, what to do with intense emotions, in class and in life.

Step into a powerful space

 Being with ourselves is the most powerful space..discovering our inner resources, our answers, and our wholeness, and strength within, in the embrace of our Spirit. Yet, for many people , it is a confusing to go within. As we may not have keys on how to navigate, how to process what we discover, we may feel a bit lost.
Somatic practices allow us to slow down enough to feel our own self beyond the minds concepts, and in that sense of just being and exploring, and feeling and sensing, all of a sudden we may just come back to a simple and natural wholeness. Presence, connectedness.
I don't know any better practice right now that embraces us just exactly the way we the most need it, right now. Somatic Yoga is another world opening up. It is teaching us a new way of being with ourselves.
